Microchirita sp. in Krabi, Thailand
Krabi province is located in the west coast of southern Thailand, at the shore of Andaman sea. There are solitary limestone peaks, both on the land and in the sea. Krabi is a famous tour destination now.
I was there for a short vacation in October and I visited an inland area which is famous for its karst landscape. I am sure I can meet some Gesneriad plants in such habitat. In fact I just followed the paved path to look around the area and it's easy to find special plants along the path as this place still remains natural view although it's a tourist spot. Soon I saw a lot of purple flowers on the ground while I walked further. The flowers belong to Microchirita, but I can't tell the species name.
There are so many purple flowers as this Microchirita seems it has seized this place for a long time. It grows well no matter under full sunlight or under shaded place. I presume that I'm lucky as I can always see lovely plants during my journey. And it is indeed a beautiful encounter with this Microchirita in Krabi !

Some Achimenes

always hard to please all
We had the hottest September which was 2 degrees Celsius above the former highest record. I failed to grow Smithiantha under such condition but my Achimenes unexpectedly thrive. Recently the monsoon brings cooler air from the north, it helps the Achimenes to save the energy. Due to the season change, there is enough time for the Achimenes to develop the qualified flowers and then bloom smoothly. I think my flowering season of Achimenes is starting. :-)
