Happy New Year 2019

This year comes to the end, although somewhere in the world there are still natural disasters and international conflicts, we are lucky to live in this free and tranquil place. At least we have spare time to develop our interests. Thanks and hopefully the coming year will be better.

Codonanthe gracilis

This is a common hanging plant in Taiwan that you can always get from the flower market. Codonanthe gracilis absolutely fits the local condition, easy-growing.

Episcia + Smithiantha + Sinnigia

It's the season that combines different plants. The beginning of Smithiantha, the end of Episcia and the good time of Sinningia.

Primulina 'Summer Song'

An easy grower with beautiful foliage and medium plant size. Common mauve flower and tall stalk.

Sinn. Fu's Flower Fairy

Another interesting Sinningia hybrid that featuring a unique size between micro & mini.  It's not a typical miniature Sinningia due to both plant and flower are smaller.

Primulina in Autumn

The autumn is not the peak blooming season for Primulina, only a few specific species show their flowers. Recently there are 2 small medium plants in bloom.

The planting is the seasonal task during these days ... I have to handle the plants in hand asap.

 

My Episcia

Double quantity than I had last year ... I should stop planting the stolons. The colorful foliage can last for a while before the winter comes.

very easy-growing

I like to handle the very easy-growing plants and only the tough plants can survive in my planting area. Although this calyx double sinningia is idyllic but we usually say the plants which grow and bloom by themselves are good plants.

Mid-Autumn Festival

Tomorrow is the Mid-Autumn Festival which is the 15th day of 8th month of Chinese lunar calendar. Usually this means the autumn is coming ... but the weather is still hot in the daytime ... fortunately the night is cool ... so it's no longer tough for plants.

Cool Rainy Days

The rain did not stop for the past week, too much rain has caused flood in southern Taiwan. Finally it should be the end of the rainy days today.

Summer Dormancy

This summer is not just hot but also hot for a long time.  It's a tough season for many plants even they did well in last summer.  Let's go to the summer dormancy !!!

Primulina 'Matsumushi'

This is a miniature Primulina hybrid with rosette foliage. I assume it's a Japanese hybrid according to its Japanese name. An easy-grower.

Lazy Summer

Doing nothing is better than trying harder because the timing is not allowed. Everybody takes a nap then.

Boeica sp. 'Khao Sok'

Boeica .... this is a new genera that I just know recently. I have no idea about the exact ID of this plant that I encountered in southern Thailand. Similar to Boeica brachyandra which has been recorded in peninsula Malaysia. No more public information is available.
