Happy Episcia

The past weeks were hot, over 35 degrees Celsius outside in the day time (at the same time over 39 degrees Celsius inside the planting area due to greenhouse effect) and usually this is the normal situation in our summer. All I need to do is to provide shade to certain plants during this period. Episcia totally conforms the heat under shade, they expand greatly and look like the weed in summer.

Sinn. Stone's Sonia

A selected seedling of the cross made by Mini Sinn. and Sinn. tubiflora ... this cross created many good clones with good advantages such as floriferous, tough plant, long-lasting flower and accommodating to hot weather condition ... etc.

Aeschynanthus obconicus

Found it as hanging basket plant in a flower shop in Malaysia, Aeschynanthus obconicus seems a common house plant there. The flower is cute and I usually can't resist the red color. :-)

Miniature Sinningia

Just some blooming photos of this year. I still keep many mini-sinn. although I do not pay attention to them over years ... haha ... is it because new things are more attractive than old ones ?  LOL

Sinn. nordestina

This species doesn't look like a Sinningia. :-)
Just grow it for fun as I always like the orange flowers. Although it seems delicate and slim, it's easy to grow.

Didymocarpus sulphureus

I never knew this genus before I saw it during my trip in Malaysia, since I did not expect to see this plant in our itinerary.  On our way down to Brinchang town from the mossy forest, the van moved slowly due to it's a mountain route, so I looked outside along the road to see if there was something interesting.  I randomly saw few yellow flowers swaying in the wind.  I was not sure what it is, so I asked the driver to park at roadside for few minutes, then I got off to check it closely. I took some photos first and thought it should belong to Gesneriad family by instinct.  When I came back to Taiwan, I tried to identify the ID of this plant and luckily I found it in the flora of Malaysia. The plant I saw is "Didymocarpus sulphureus" and that's all that I know, not any else information about it.

For their foliage

Some gesneriads with beautiful foliage. Sinningia, Primulina and Gloxinella are good for our summer time as long as we offer suitable shade condition, they can tolerate higher temperature without growing issues in summer.
