Kohleria warszewiczii is native to Colombia. It has an unusual color combination which is striking and impressive.

Ground Cover

These plants (Episcia, Koheria, Sinningia) are growing on the ground without additional care. Wish to have more ground space for the plants but too hard to get it in the city.

Episcia is happy but Kohleria has to pass through this tough period as well as human beings.  XD

Nice Foliage

I am happy to offer the seeds for people who are willing to grow them. I do not have time to take care new plants by myself and it's good to co-work with others. The Kohleria seedlings with stable silver foliage is my last cross with Kohleria and I'm glad to see the foliage which is in accordance with my cross target. The pity is the color of the flower, not many for selection as they are limited in certain color.

Named by Mr. John Tan when he visited the place of Mr. HCY as a special overseas guest for Gesneriads communication. This Kohleria is a compact grower with lighter silver green foliage/brown veining and big bloom. The flower color is the fashion style that never fades away.

Still struggling in working out a tall Kohleria bloomer ? I know it's a problem to put huge Kohleria into an indoor garden... But dwarf and variegated Kohleria is a good solution for growers who live in cool area. Round and variegated foliage with shorter stem, such Kohleria had been made in Taiwan and they are decent houseplants that will definitely delight you.

The Kohleria is getting more popular and many growers are interested in the hybridization work because more pollen parents are available after efforts of some local hybridizers over years.

The main stream of developing new Kohleria varieties is to get big and multiple blooms on a compact plant. This is a current that will never fade away. Other than this gorgeous target, properly the idyllic ideas such like foliage variegation and miniature size of Kohleria will enrich the appearance of creating modern Kohleria.

I presume the Kohleria lovers will be excited with these beautiful plants which are the latest achievements from Mr. HCY who has done many Kohleria hybrids. These blooming machines are compact with extremely outstanding and showy flowers. And I guess they represent the classic characteristics in terms of the hybridization work of Kohleria in Taiwan so far. As long as you are addicted to the beauty of Kohleria, you do not want to miss these plants !

Kohleria seedlings

I presume I have to bury some of them into the ground and then estimate if they are qualified to be a perennial weed like I did for those seedlings that did not perform well in a pot. :-)  Eventually I will know what is the appropriate application in terms of their gardening characters. It's important to find a definition on a new plant.

This is really a successful weed that grows and blooms every year by itself. It proves that it's a decent perennial plant for flowerbed. I will say this is its definition as a gardening plant. To understand our plants first then we just know how to use it to meet our requirements.

Winner takes all

This Kohleria is the winner from the seasonal growth competition, it's the most strong variety and passed all challenges although it is not the prettiest. But pretty or not is not important eventually because no others are there for comparison ... all have been beaten down.  XD

Kohleria allenii

A species of Kohleria that accommodates tropical weather. My photos were taken in an open garden in Singapore.  This one is tall, the flower spike is tall as well ... I estimate the whole plant is taller than 2 meters.  Kohleria allenii may bring tough characters to improve those are sensitive about the temperature.  This is another lesson that I have to experiment by making cross with K. allenii.

Kohleria HCY's Pink Diamond

Mr. HCY who is a very famous Gesneriad hybridizer in Taiwan, showed me this new cultivar last week, this plant bloomed with pink flower against the silver foliage which was really impressed. I was advised that the single flower can last more than 3 weeks and it is capable to bloom with the growth from time to time.
