The end of 2020

I will agree that the world has changed a lot in this COVID-19 year. Many things that we think it's normal ... but we can't take them for granted anymore.

Alsobia punctata

Alsobia punctata is easy to grow and bloom , the short life of the flower is the only flaw. I have this plant for many years but the flower was rarely seen on the plant ... most of the time , it fell down.

Colorful Foliage

It seems Episcia is a suitable ground cover and it's time-saving concept to put them on the ground. Easy to handle them with less attention. What a smart decision ~

Gloxinia perennis

Gloxinia perennis , also known as Canterbury Bells is a tall plant that is suitable for tropical garden display.

Season of Smithiantha

Yes, repotting Smithiantha is finished a couple weeks ago and the shoots are thriving. I did not harvest the rhizomes this year, just let them stay in the pots during the dormancy period. It seems ok and will be easier in taking care of Smithiantha in the future.

Deinostigma eberhardtii

Deinostigma is a latest genus in the family of Gesneriaceae. The common species is Deinostigma tamiana which was included in the genus of Primulina before. Deinostigma eberhardtii is another member of this genus. It's still not a popular plant and I also see it in the photo only. Very rare !!!

About these days

It's time to re-pot the plants because the growing season is coming. I'm working with Smithiatha recently as I did not harvest the rhizomes and just let them stay in the pot during their dormancy. Because I'm tired to repeat the same work every year. So far, so good.

Tenway Garden

Tenway Garden is a garden cafe located in central Taiwan. I heard there is a show room for violets all year round and I went to visit it this weekend. The blooming violets are placed in an air-conditioned room and they look good. It's not easy to see their beautiful color in summer because the temperature is usually 35~38 degree Celsius. The show room is an oasis and the violets and I are happy with the cool air.

Thai pink variegated Episcia

The common pink variegated Episcia that we know, fragile ... not an easy-going plant ... usually we have to put it in a transparent container to keep the moisture stable. And it doesn't tolerate the light/temperature change in short period.

But growing Thai version is totally different from our experience. Thai Pink Episcia requires almost the same as other normal Episcia. Not any special treatment is needed. It seems Thai version is strong and down-to-earth.

Primulina gemella

Summer plant !!!
I just note the flower is small as the foliage XD
But it's good to grow small plant since I am going to dormancy in summer and this cutie is easy to take care.

No sales plan in 2020

The world is on lockdown because the pandemic of covid-19 , I will not have any sale plan in 2020 as the post delivery may delay or the parcel may be lost. Hopefully everything will be good in the next year.
