Episcia 'Blue Heaven' tolerates with cooler seasons in Taipei. It doesn't frustrate me during the cold winter.

Beginning of Autumn

According to the lunar calendar, 8/7 is the beginning of Autumn.  Glad to know it but the fact is the heat remains.

The winter is coming ... the Hot plants will be fading away ... the new page is in front of us.

Ground Cover

These plants (Episcia, Koheria, Sinningia) are growing on the ground without additional care. Wish to have more ground space for the plants but too hard to get it in the city.

A few flowers in summer

As usual ... it's the low season now ... only a few plants bloom under high temperature. 😆😆 I'm in the dormancy, too.

Colorful Foliage

It seems Episcia is a suitable ground cover and it's time-saving concept to put them on the ground. Easy to handle them with less attention. What a smart decision ~

Tenway Garden

Tenway Garden is a garden cafe located in central Taiwan. I heard there is a show room for violets all year round and I went to visit it this weekend. The blooming violets are placed in an air-conditioned room and they look good. It's not easy to see their beautiful color in summer because the temperature is usually 35~38 degree Celsius. The show room is an oasis and the violets and I are happy with the cool air.

Thai pink variegated Episcia

The common pink variegated Episcia that we know, fragile ... not an easy-going plant ... usually we have to put it in a transparent container to keep the moisture stable. And it doesn't tolerate the light/temperature change in short period.

But growing Thai version is totally different from our experience. Thai Pink Episcia requires almost the same as other normal Episcia. Not any special treatment is needed. It seems Thai version is strong and down-to-earth.

Cool & Sunny

It's the best season of the year. All plants are happy.

My own hybrid, it performs well during cooler days.

Codonanthe devosiana 'Pink' , not that pink so far , maybe it's not cool enough.

Thai hybrid , is always the brightest one in the the garden.

No more air conditioner ...

Rainy night and it's cool. Finally no more air conditioner is required for sleep.

The summer vacation comes to the end ? I hope so and I have a lot to prepare for the planting season.

Episcia is the only one plant that I don't have to take care too much in this summer. But I need to re-pot them because they prefer new planting materials.
