Epithema sp.

Another Gesneriad plant that I never knew ... Epithema ... with very limited information about this genus. The plant itself looks interesting and the flower is tiny. These Thai Epithema grow on shady limestone area, could be a big group when you see them in the wild.

Kohleria allenii

A species of Kohleria that accommodates tropical weather. My photos were taken in an open garden in Singapore.  This one is tall, the flower spike is tall as well ... I estimate the whole plant is taller than 2 meters.  Kohleria allenii may bring tough characters to improve those are sensitive about the temperature.  This is another lesson that I have to experiment by making cross with K. allenii.

Non-stop Achimenes

It is the slack season of my garden, but actually it shouldn't be.  That's the consequence of travelling too much and handling too many other plants at the same time. The leading lady of the garden is still the Achimenes. :-) Some run out of their blooming capacity but some are about to reaching their peak.

Columnea gloriosa at Gardens by the bay

There are many tropical plants, especially the warm to cool-growing ones are well-transplanted in the cool dome of Gardens by the bay, Singapore. I heard of it before but I just had a chance to visit this dome few weeks ago. Although it's an artificial habitat, the growing condition tends to fit the requirement of tropical cloudy forest based on using less power consumption. Columnea gloriosa looks like doing happy dance in this dome greenhouse. The gorgeous orange flowers are impressed.

Paraboea sp. on limestone cliff

สวัสดี ครับ.
I'm a tourist.
Seeing lovely plant is a bonus.
Island hopping is tired but worthy. :)

These Paraboea plants grow high on the limestone cliff which raised from the sea. They are tough plants as they are exposed under the sun and monsoon storm from Andaman sea. I can just use my zoom lens to take a zoom-in photo. I can not show further details but I presume that it is a Paraboea due to the plant style and the seed pod. And southern Thailand is a very important habitat for Paraboea, there are many new species discovered in recent years. These beautiful islands belong to Than Bok Khorani National Park. The islands are accessible via speedboat or traditional Thai fishing boat called "long-tail boat".
