|Smithiantha "Designer's Bridal Saree"|
Finally we have a sunny weekend after a long cloudy and rainy days in Taipei. I just have to take some photos in such beautiful day. Some Smithantha bloom over 2 months but some just start...
To escape the cold Taipei, I went to Singapore during Chinese New Year and looked for warmth for a few days. Singapore did not let me down, I did sweat a lot ... Meanwhile I visited a friend's balcony garden and the Episcia thrives. A moderate tropic warms me up as well as the friendship.
Named by Mr. John Tan when he visited the place of Mr. HCY as a special overseas guest for Gesneriads communication. This Kohleria is a compact grower with lighter silver green foliage/brown veining and big bloom. The flower color is the fashion style that never fades away.
Sorry ... if too many Smithiantha ... but these are the few plants remain in heavy bloom after the super cold spell over decades. My Epsicia and Kohleria were seriously destroyed. The seedlings of Smithiantha are growing well, hopefully to have their first bloom in the spring.
