This is an annual herb that it sometimes grows like the weed due to the seeds easily spread to neighborhood pots. Chirita lavandulacea can be a huge plant with many flowers.
The Smithiantha seedlings keep blooming through out the off season. The continuous cold snap detains the new growth of other Gesneriad plants. On the other hand, the cold snap also encourages some Primulina to form buds for their spring blossom. So, no pain no gain ??
Found in central Peninsular Malaysia at elevation around 1200M, the habitat of Ridleyandra morganii is the cool and shade hillside that usually keeps all the moisture. It grows like a ground cover, some even stay at the bole of a tree in the evergreen tropical forest due to the high humidity. The population I saw thrives along the way to Gunung Berembun ... very easy to see them while you trek in the forest. I believe Ridleyandra morganii is one of the most charming Gesneriad plants in terms of the foliage and the flower. All the photos were taken from the plants in situ.
