The sun light is getting stronger and the temp. is raising too high ... have to let the mini-sinningias go to semi-dormancy by not giving too much water or fertilizer in the hot summer days. We can recall the best show that they have performed early this year. :)

Hello Alfredo !
回覆刪除I need your advice: at the begining of May I bought some mini sinningia tubers from Ebay Canada, they arrived ok, with sprouted little leaves.I planted them and started to water them now and then when the soil was dry (I was afraid to water too much). They didn't grow at all, some other very small leaves appeared but nothing more. They are not dead, I checked.I don't know what to do...please help !
Dear Madyjo,
回覆刪除Please shot your mini sinningia plants and post them on your blog. Also let me know your growing environment regarding the day/night temperature and the sun light condition. I'll check and comment.
Dear Alfredo,
回覆刪除I just posted some photos on my blog, you will see that their leaves are tiny.I'm waiting for your advice.I gave them only few drops of water when the soil was dry.
Many thanks in advance !
Hi ,
回覆刪除- The temp. is quite ok for growing the miniature sinningia.
- The sun light seems ok according to your description.
- I saw 2 small problems on your photos : 1) your medium was not well-mixed, too loose after mixed up due to the big pieces. 2) The pot is a bit too big for those tubers. With the first problem, the tuber can’t get enough moisture to grow up the sprouts because the tubers don’t fully touch the medium, and they are put a big higher above the medium, it’s hard for new roots to absorb the moisture and nutrition. The second problem is not a big issue but I suggest you’d better use a smaller pot for these tubers.
I’ve added a new post in my blog, that may show you the way I pot a tuber with new sprout.
