Can you tell the difference ?

They are siblings from Sinningia regina 'Serra da Vista' X other blue Sinningia. I have about ten plants in cultivation. The flower appearance is improved but the color makes no difference.

I'm happy with these tuberous plants because they are very easy-going.

hot to warm growing Columnea

The genus Columnea can be found in high cloud forest or lower mountain forests, they require different condition when we grow them as house plant. I failed to grow them when I was a beginner since I don't know them well. It was frustrated to see Columnea plant dried out in hot summer especially they thrived just a few months ago in winter.

Finally I understand I should pick out the hot growing Columnea varieties which adapt the hot summer in Taiwan. Before planting any plant, it's essential to understand its needs and requirements to ensure its health and successful growth.

This plant produces 3 big stolons.

Primulina 'Matsumushi'

A miniature hybrid from Japan, very compact and neat foliage. It usually blooms in summer but only lasts about 7~10 days.

Sinn. tubiflora

This is the first time I post the flower of this species although I have it for a decade. The tubular flower has a strong sweet lemony scent. It is a tough plant that requires full sun and blooms in early summer. Winter-dormant.

xGloxistema "Dale's Dainty Dancers"

Gloxinia erinoides ‘Chapada dos Guimaraes’ x Diastema comiferum ... an intergeneric cross made by Dale Martens. Tiny little flowers are adorable.

Primulina Mineko

The flowers are showy as they are extremely BIG !!! A must have if you're into the fancy flowers of Primulina.

Primulina linearifolia

It blooms on time every year announcing that the spring is coming soon. I tried to make some pollination with it last weekend.

Sinningia nordestina

It doesn't look like a Sinningia species. After the dormancy in summer, we usually grow it in autumn white the tuber sprouts. It grows quickly and blooms in early spring.

P. diffusa is a stoloniferous species of Primulina that has been found growing on limestone rocks in southern province Guangxi, China. I got one from a friend a few months ago and it blooms now.
