Outstanding among the family Gesneriaceae, One of a kind, this is Smithiantha that blooms in winter. I am happy to see the colorful spikes during this period.

A Taiwanese hybrid from Mr. WSL , so far I got 1 calyx double and 1 normal one from the seedlings.

calyx double with Sinn. lineata parentage

A HCY's cross ... combining the resource of Sinningia species makes the hybridization work more interesting. The advantage of Sinn. lineate mainly features the rigid plant and abundance in flower quantity. So far, many eumorpha-liked calyx double sinningia are soft-looking, it's a good idea to add rigid element and create some new looks.

New Smithiantha Blooms

The second generation of my Smithiantha blooms in the new year. The seeds were crossed and collected in the last blooming season and sowed about 5 months ago. Some are raising by my friend and some by me. The color variability of these new seedlings are impressed and many of them are scented which is a bonus.
